Zero Bulb Ideas (4): Power Back-up Plan

Image
‘Don’t watch movies on television’, my sister advises, ‘you will not be able to complete a single movie’. That is the situation of electricity supply in the great Capital city of Kohima. Very few works get done in offices because most of the works are done in the computer. Stomachs grumble because of half cooked rice. This happens because like movie watching experience, halfway through cooking in electric rice cookers, power goes off and not many cooks have mastered the technique of cooking the later half through a different source (firewook or LPG). It has been heard that the Power Minister and a handful of other big shots are on a Generator/Inverter buying spree to power their houses. Rumours are heard that someone has an Inverter which can run a saw mill. Also gossips are heard that if the present government returns to power, they are going to project in their action plan for the next financial year to procure Inverters for each household. Electricity will be supplied for a f...

Zero Bulb Ideas (3): Background Music Bible

Image
Zero Bulb Ideas is a series featuring whacky ideas of a noodle-headed nincompoop.   (whyismarko.com) Waterproof Bible was in the news a while ago. There is no news or statistic thereafter if reading the Bible in the shower has increased or what is the percentage of ministers using it during water baptism. We have a host of other Bibles like Cowboys Devotional Bible, Soul Surfer Bible, the colorful Rainbow Study Bible, Good News for Modern Man, Super-Heroes Bible, Outdoors Bible, Woman Thou Art Loosed Bible, Students Bible, The Grace for the Moment Study Bible, Women Bible, Brides Devotional Bible, Couples Bible, etc, etc. At Bamora, a new Bible called the Background Music Bible is conceptualized. The idea is to use background music to create the right mood for the passages being read, so that readers can connect emotionally with the biblical text. A Bamora church believes this will increase spiritual fervor of readers and make reading the Word of God an enjoyable experience....

Zero Bulb Ideas (2): DM toilets

Image
Zero Bulb Ideas is a series featuring whacky ideas of a noodle-headed nincompoop. The Bamora Municipal has come up with a fantastic plan to detect and control Diabetes Mellitus (DM) among citizens. In all the public toilets, it was decided to install dipsticks to test the sugar level in urine for everyone who use the toilets. When urine is passed, a dipstick immerses itself in the fresh urine and the reading is made instantly by blinking of lights placed in front near the flush. To simplify reading of result, traffic light colors are used: Green light to signify non-diabetic, Yellow for pre-diabetic, and Red for diabetic. Near the exit where hand dryer is kept, information board is hung where dos and don’ts for all the three readings are displayed. The proposal is under review by medical experts. Some people think it is a brilliant idea while some activists argue that those who prefer to urinate on street corners will be missed.

Zero Bulb Ideas (1): Anger Management

Image
Zero Bulb Ideas is a series featuring whacky ideas of a noodle-headed nincompoop. Let it out. Yes, that is it. If you are angry, just let it out. In an Anger Management Center at Bamora, clients are allowed to freely release their anger. They are made to break computers, television sets, mirrors and window panes. Electric saw is also provided to saw through beds, tables and chairs. A baseball bat is also provided to break everything they want to in the room. The managers of the center believe that doing so releases the anger of the clients on those objects they destruct and calm the nerves. Such acts are said to have lasting effects for the future. But there is one catch in the Terms and Conditions of the centre that deters angry people from joining the center. The clients after each therapy session have to pay for all that they had destructed.
